What inspired you to start business?
I started a different business first called Funky Goddess out of necessity when I went looking for a beginners set for young girls who started their first period. This developed on to becoming involved in social media as I had no marketing budget and started getting really good on Twitter. I sold Funky Goddess after many businesses started approaching me about helping them with their twitter. I also learned as much as I could online and then I also founded the social media summit (a two day event which is all about social media)
What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?
Time management and cash flow (which is a common issue for small business owners)
What do you wish you would had known before starting a business that you know now?
Surround yourself with the best people who you trust and if people take your ideas, just ignore them and be the best. Remember they don’t have the unique selling point that you have
What advice would you offer to any soon to be start-up founders out there?
Get advice from a mentor, choose someone you admire and is already successful. Also surround yourself with good people similar to you. I’ve created a lovely community of female entrepreneurs see womensinspirenetwork.com
What do you find most interesting and rewarding in terms of running your own business?I love being my own boss and the flexibility I have for family. But I do work more. If you spend time with your family, usually you end up working when they are asleep!

What has been the proudest moment in your business so far – your proudest achievement, or moment of significance to you?
I was asked to do a Ted X talk and I founded the social media summit and womens inspire network and took relationships that people had built online into an offline setting successfully.
How do you achieve work-life balance, especially being a mum?
Difficult! But I just make it a priority. One day I had a call from my daughter who was very upset, I cancelled all of my meetings and drove straight back from Dublin. I* try to walk 3 times per week that is my time. It’s also important to make time for your partner as they are the ones there in the background watching the roller coaster journey of being an entrepreneur.
